Happy New Year 2077

Happy New Nepali year 2077 BS

our calendar generally based on the movement of the moon, always happens on the spring, traditionally I don't remember celebrating ever in my family when I grew up.........maybe the celebration is just for nature as they bloom or maybe for the riches as they always hope to find some reason to celebrate. but still, to see new leaves, new flower, clear skies is already a great realization of change.

however, these days its widely celebrated in cities and around the country especially amongst Nepalese people. a most common way of celebrating with family is cooking and eating delicious food....mostly something with meat (chicken/ goat, buffalo, pig or fish). for the young people in the cities, it has been very common to party all night in and around Thamel (a tourist backpacking hub).

since our country have lots of mountains, slowly visiting small hill stations for sunset and sunrise is getting cherished.

after all, I like looking back and thinking ahead, wish you all happy new year. hope we all will remain humans ;P

this sunrise is from a beautiful hill station near Kathmandu, known as a queen of hills and an easy escape for sunrise and sunset.

this sunrise was in a place called dhunkharkha, I woke up to piss and got this, all those shapes are the Himalayan ranges.

one of my guests took this picture in an Annapurna range, he woke up early to get this shot, see the taller Annapurna ranges behind is getting hit by the sun but a bit smaller mt. fishtail yet is waiting for the sun to touch her body.

this was when I had to make an emergency return one of guest down from 4400m......i was literally chasing the sunlight hope to win a daylight time, the sun was on his final grip and a village showed up. what a hope.
